At the heart of my illustrative work, I am telling stories. The real joy of drawing is the fact that I'm exploring worlds and interesting characters---it's what got me to pick up a pencil and start a drawing habit that has never stopped. With that said, in 5 days, I will be joining Camp NaNoWriMo for the month of July to write my first YA fantasy novel! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Camp NaNoWriMo is a month-long, free, global event hosted by https://campnanowrimo.org/ where you and other writers are grouped in a "cabin" for peer support in completing whatever writing project you've been wanting to accomplish. It'll be my first nanowrimo-anything and I would be lying to you if I said I'm not internally screaming from the excitement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm already in a cabin full of awesome fantasy writers and I can't wait to hit the ground *writing* on July 1st. Every week I will be blogging about my progress and the story in my website (JGVillustrations.com). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This project will be purely for fun, I don't know where it'll go afterwards and I'm okay with that. Just like as an artist, focusing on just being the conduit of your imagination is key to not being ruined by anxiety and self-doubt. ⠀⠀⠀
